The Featherstone Elementary School staff, along with the members of the Xi Alpha Lambda chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., provided close to 1,000 lunches for members of the school community who lost power due to last week’s wind storm.
“We put out the call for help late Saturday evening, and the Featherstone staff (current and former) and their families, along with the gentlemen from the fraternity, instantly answered,” said Danna Johnson, assistant principal at Featherstone Elementary.
“Everybody involved willingly donated food and manpower to give our families a helping hand. Some people came to the school to pick up food for themselves and their neighbors, and school staff also went and delivered lunches. All of the families we reached were so thankful for the support.”
