More details emerge from investigation involving PWC police officer shooting

Officer Involved Shooting | Attempted Aggravated Malicious Wounding of a Law Enforcement Officer [LEO] – On August 18th at 6:36PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 13100 block of Tory Lp in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a domestic disturbance between a mother and son.

Once on scene, an officer made contact with the mother, a 47 year old woman of Woodbridge. While speaking to the mother, the son, identified as the accused, approached the officer and his mother armed with a knife.

During the encounter, the officer fired and struck the son in the upper body. The son was flown to an area hospital where he was treated and released for non-life threatening injuries.

The officer and mother sustained minor, non-gunshot related injuries and were also transported to an area hospital.

Following the investigation, the accused was arrested. The officer involved in this incident is a tenured member of the Prince William County Police Department and has been placed on routine administrative leave as the investigation continues.
