Michèle B. McQuigg, Clerk of the Prince William County circuit court is set to reveal “important and previously unknown historical information” that was discovered when old circuit court records were digitized.
McQuigg will discuss the findings on Thursday, March 14, from 7:30 to 9 p.m., when Historic Prince William meets in Room 107A&B of the Developmental Services Building in Woodbridge. The building is located at the McCoart Government Administrative Center off the Prince William County Parkway. The meeting is open to the public.
According to a news release, volunteers led by Ron Turner, under McQuigg’s guidance, have been digitizing Prince William County court documents. Many date to the 1700s. McQuigg will explain the process of digitizing these artifacts and will discuss historical information that was discovered in the process.
A resident of Prince William County since 1973, McQuigg has been Clerk of Circuit Court since Jan, 1, 2008. She is in her sixth year of an eight-year term. Previously, she was a member of the Virginia House of Delegates representing the 51st District (1998-2007), Occoquan District Supervisor on the Prince William Board of County Supervisors (1992-1998), and citizen activist.
