School Board Resignation of Kenneth T. Nixon, Jr.
City of Manassas School Board member-elect Kenneth T. Nixon Jr. has decided to resign from his position as an elected School Board Member for Manassas City Public Schools, for reasons undisclosed in a news release from Manassas City Public Schools. Nixon was elected to serve as a member of the School Board on November 6, 2018.
Nixon’s resignation creates an opening to serve on the School Board. The Board has 45 days to fill the vacancy and is now seeking applications from legally qualified residents interested in the position.
Letters of interest and a brief resume should be sent to the School Board in care of Alba Garza, Clerk of the Board by mail (P.O. Box 520, Manassas VA 20108) or in person (8700 Centreville Road, Suite 400, Manassas, VA). Documents must be submitted to the Clerk’s office no later than 5:00 pm on January 18, 2019.
The appointee will serve until November 2019 when a special election is held to fill the remaining three years of Nixon’s term.
