Manassas receives Virginia Main Street award for volunteer milestone

Historic Manassas, Inc. has received the Virginia Main Street Milestone Achievement Award for volunteer investment in downtown revitalization efforts.  Since 1997, more than 60,000 volunteer hours have been donated to the historic downtown area for events and revitalization.

Currently, there are 25 designated Virginia Main Street communities. The Virginia Main Street program, managed by the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development, provides assistance and training to help communities increase the economic vitality of their downtown commercial districts.

Virginia Main Street uses the National Main Street model to help communities revitalize their downtowns by focusing on their unique heritage and attributes.

The program helps communities implement a comprehensive revitalization strategy that creates economic growth and pride in downtowns.

Historic Manassas, Inc. is a charitable, non-profit corporation funded by private donations and the City of Manassas.

Since February 1986, Historic Manassas, Inc. has been a huge contributor in the revitalization and promotion of Historic Downtown Manassas, according to a news release.
