Burglary
On August 26, 2014 Manassas City Police met with a resident on the 9200 block of Thornwood Ln for a report of a burglary. The reporting party told officers that sometime between 11:00PM on August 25th and 8:00AM on August 26th, someone entered her residence through an unlocked rear window and stole her purse. The purse contained miscellaneous items including jewelry, medication, and an undisclosed amount of cash.
**Arrests**
Stolen Mopeds – Arrest
At approximately 7:30AM on August 20, 2014 Manassas City Police responded to the 8500 block of Piney Point Ct for a report of a stolen 2014 Jonway moped that was removed from its parking space during the overnight hours of August 19th. Once on-scene, officers were approached by a second victim who reported that her 2013 Jonway moped was also stolen from the same area during the overnight hours of August 19th. Through extra patrols and investigation, officers were able to identify three juvenile males riding mopeds in the area of 8300 Buckner Rd at approximately 11:15AM who admitted to stealing and hotwiring them earlier in the night. The juveniles were charged in connection with four stolen mopeds in all (see previous release below). All three individuals have pending court dates in Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court. All scooters involved in the incident have been recovered.
1) 14yo male of Manassas, charged with: grand larceny; destruction of property; and conspiracy to commit grand larceny
2) 15yo male of Manassas, charged with: grand larceny; conspiracy to commit grand larceny; and destruction of property
3) 15yo male of Manassas, charged with: conspiracy to commit grand larceny; possession of stolen property; destruction of property; and trespassing
Stolen Mopeds [Previously Released: August 20, 2014]
On August 20, 2014 Manassas City Police met with a resident for report of a stolen moped. The victim told officers that sometime between 8:30PM on August 19th and 4:30AM on August 20th his moped, valued at $1,000.00, was stolen from its parking space on the 9300 block of Taney Rd.
Description of moped: 2013 Jonway moped, black and gray in color with a black, red, and gray driver’s seat. Major scratches on left hand mirror from a previous fall and a lock box attached to the rear of the driver’s seat. At the time of the theft the moped was covered with a blue plastic vinyl cover that was later found on the 9300 block of Taney Rd.
At approximately 12:50AM on August 20, 2014 Manassas City Police also responded to the 9700 block of Bragg Ln for a report of a stolen moped. Officers were advised that four black males in their upper teens had jump-started a red moped and two of them were driving it towards Byrd Dr before it stopped working in the area of Byrd Dr and Bragg Ln and would not restart. After circulating the area, officers met with the victim, who told them that when he confronted the two suspects that were driving the vehicle, they dropped the moped and fled on foot. One ran in the direction of the Georgetown South Community Center and another ran towards Buckner Rd. The moped, valued at $300.00, was recovered by the victim.
