Crime Report
Suspicious Person
At approximately 9:50PM on February 6, 2014 Manassas City Police were dispatched to Sunoco located at 9640 Liberia Ave for a report of a suspicious person. Upon arrival, officers observed a male subject interacting with a clerk at the counter and identified him as the suspicious person based on the caller’s description. Once the staff and customers were removed from harm’s way, officers initiated contact with him and discovered he was holding a knife at his own throat. Officers were able to de-escalate the situation and remove the knife from the subject’s possession. He was then detained without incident and transported to a local hospital for evaluation. No injuries were reported as a result of this incident. Clerks reported to officers that the subject had entered the store, grabbed a bottle of alcohol, placed his wallet on the counter, and asked a clerk to retrieve money out of his wallet for him. The clerk refused at the same time officers had entered the store and identified the subject.
Vandalism to Autos
At approximately 4:20AM on February 7, 2014 Manassas City Police were dispatched to the area of Clover Hill Rd and Gooseberry Dr for a report of vandalism to autos. Upon arrival, officers were able to identify eight vehicles on the 9300 block of Gooseberry Dr that had smashed windows. Three vehicles on Clover Hill Rd in the area of Yarrow Ln were also found with similar damage. Officers attempted to make contact with the vehicles’ owners. This is an ongoing investigation.
Robbery
On February 6, 2014 Manassas City Police responded to Novant Health Prince William Medical Center for a report of a robbery of a juvenile. The 17-year-old victim told officers that he was walking home from a friend’s residence on the 9300 block of Taney Rd at approximately 9:00PM when a group of five individuals approached him. One individual brandished a handgun and demanded money while a second individual struck him in the face. The victim stated he did not have money and was able to return to his residence. The suspects fled the area on foot. Police are following up on leads and at this time it appears the victim may know the suspects, who are also believed to be juveniles. The victim sustained minor injuries.
