Breaking and Entering
On February 3, 2014 Manassas City Police met with staff at Automo’s Service Center located at 9097 Euclid Ave for a report of breaking and entering.  According to the reporting party, someone(s) had broken into the business sometime between 6:00PM on February 1st and 12:00PM on February 2nd and stolen two diagnostic machines.

Larceny from Vehicle
On February 3, 2014 Manassas City Police met with a resident on the 8400 block of Crozier Dr for a report of a larceny.  According to the victim, someone(s) stole the type S rims off of her Acura RSX sometime between 5:30PM on February 2nd and 7:25AM on February 3rd.  The rims were valued at approximately $1,600.00.

Harassing Phone Calls
On February 4, 2014 Manassas City Police met with a staff member at Dean Elementary School for a report of harassing phone calls.  The reporting party told Officers she had received seven phone calls on her mobile phone and seven calls on her work phone from someone claiming to be a representative of the “Bureau of Crime Investigators.”  The victim hung up the phone after the caller demanded her Social Security number and the caller became more harassing.

Attempted Fraud/Identity Theft
On February 4, 2014 Manassas City Police met with a resident on the 9000 block of Weir St for a report of attempted fraud.  According to the reporting party, someone with a thick foreign accent called her residence at approximately 1:40PM on February 4th claiming to be a representative of Windows or Microsoft.  The caller told the resident that something needed to be fixed on her computer, and directed her to visit a website so that he could fix the problem remotely.  The resident hung up the phone and did not visit the website because she had heard of this type of scam before.

Crime Prevention Tip: If you receive an email that directs you to visit a website by clicking on a link within the message, delete the email and go directly to the institution’s website on your own.  Never give out personal or financial information to someone in person, over the phone, or online if you did not initiate the transaction.
