In anticipation of the inclement weather predicted for this weekend, the City of Manassas Park has issued the following advisory to residents and all Manassas Park Community Center patrons with so they can be better prepared and informed for this weekend and all winter season.
Fire Rescue Department
The Fire Rescue Department recommends the following websites to get reliable information on winter preparedness, office closures, emergency route declarations, and traffic alerts:

The Fire Rescue Department also offers these important winter preparedness tips:
• Keep your cell phones charged. (Those FEMA and VDEM apps are great to download too.)
• Check the batteries in your radios, flashlights, and detectors (smoke/carbon monoxide).
• Update your family communications plan.
• Keep your pets indoors during this event.
Department of Public Works
The Department of Public Works has released two reminders regarding City policy during snow emergencies.
• The first reminder addresses snow removal including the plowing of streets and shoveling of sidewalks. You can view the reminder here:

• The second reminder addresses snow emergency routes. When a snow emergency is declared by the City Manager, parking is prohibited on snow emergency routes. To see which routes in the City of Manassas Park are affected, please follow this link:

Department of Parks and Recreation
In the event that the Manassas Park Community Center is closed for inclement weather, all programs, classes, activities, and rentals will be subsequently cancelled until the building reopens for normal operation.
Preschool
Recreation Services would like to share a reminder on the snow policy for preschool. If Manassas Park City Schools do not open, preschool will not open. If Manassas Park City Schools open late, preschool will open as follows:
MPCS 1 hour delay, preschool opens 1 hour late (4’s & 5’s will open at 10:00am)
MPCS 2 hour delay, preschool morning sessions will not open (3 Bears will open at 12:30pm, unless schools decide to close)
Extended Care
Recreation Services would like to share a reminder on the snow policy for Extended Care. If Manassas Park City Schools do not open, Extended Care will not open. If Manassas Park City Schools open late, Extended Care will open as follows:
MPCS 1 hour delay, Morning Extended Care will open 1 hour late (7:00am)
MPCS 2 hour delay, Morning Extended Care will not open
If Manassas Park City Schools dismiss early, Extended Care staff will pick all children up and transport them to the community center as normal. Extended Care will only remain open for 2 hours from the school’s dismissal time. (Late pick up fees will be assessed on any pick-ups after the 2 hours.)
Should inclement weather occur on a scheduled Full Service Day for Extended Care, the city website, Facebook page, and email for community center closure and delayed opening updates.
Biddy Ball
Should the Manassas Park Community Center close during Biddy Ball practices or games, all games will be subsequently postponed and rescheduled. For more information about rescheduling contact your team’s coach or visit the Biddy Ball website: http://www.MPCCbasketball.com.
