Manassas man charged with strangulation, malicious wounding

**ARRESTS**

Malicious Wounding l Strangulation l Obstruction of Justice – On March 3rd at 9:30AM, officers responded to the 10800 block of Gambril Dr in Manassas (20109) to investigate a domestic assault. The victim, a 44 year old man of Manassas, reported to police that he and the accused, a known acquaintance, were involved in a verbal altercation which escalated.  During the encounter, the accused struck the victim in the head with a glass bottle and then strangled the victim until he was no longer breathing. When police arrived they encountered the accused inside the apartment. The accused became aggressive toward officers as they attempted to detain him. The accused actively resisted which led to a struggle.  Officers eventually detained the accused and subsequently arrested him without further incident. The victim was transported to the hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.
