Manassas man charged in heroin case

Narcotics Investigation – Arrest
On December 16th, 2013 Detectives from the Prince William-Manassas-Manassas Park Narcotics Task Force concluded a three month-long narcotics investigation involving the distribution of heroin with the execution of multiple search warrants in Manassas City and Prince William County.  Detectives discovered that the accused was transporting large quantities of heroin from New Jersey to Manassas where he would then distribute them to local communities.  Detectives executed search warrants at 9261 Byrd Dr and 9334 Witch Hazel Way in Manassas City and at 10933 Cattail Ct in Prince William County.  As a result of these searches, heroin, a handgun, medications, and an undisclosed amount of U.S. Currency were recovered.

Following the investigation, Alonzo Eugene Grant, 48, of 10933 Cattail Ct, Manassas, VA was arrested and charged with distribution of a schedule I or II narcotic [heroin].  Grant was held without bond and has a court date of January 10, 2014.  The investigation continues and additional charges are pending.

Larceny from Vehicle
On December 13, 2013 Manassas City Police met with a resident on the 8100 block of Bayberry Ct for a report of a larceny.  According to the reporting party, someone(s) broke into his work van between approximately 5:30PM on December 12th and 6:15AM on December 13th and stole various power and hand tools.

Vandalism to Auto
On December 14, 2013 Manassas City Police met with a resident on the 9300 block of Sumner Lake Blvd in reference to a report of vandalism.  The reporting party stated that at approximately 10:00AM on December 14th he went outside to use his vehicle when he discovered writing and drawings in green and red paint.  The vehicle was last seen without any markings at approximately 10:00PM on December 13, 2013.  A second vehicle in similar condition was also discovered by Officers on the 9300 block of Sumner Lake Blvd.

Larceny
On December 13, 2013 Manassas City Police met with a store employee at “New Virginia Tractor” located at 10413 Dumfries Rd in reference to a larceny.  According to the reporting party, someone(s) stole a tractor and tampered with the ignitions on four additional tractors sometime between November 13 and December 13, 2013.  The stolen item was a John Deere riding lawn mower, green and yellow in color, valued at approximately $9,400.00.  Damage caused to the ignitions of four additional John Deere lawn mowers as a result of the tampering was estimated at $400.00.

Motor Vehicle Theft
On December 16, 2013 Manassas City Police met with residents in reference to a stolen vehicle.  According to the reporting party, their vehicle was stolen from its parking spot on the 9000 block of Whispering Pine Ct between approximately 9:00PM and 11:00PM on December 14th.  The vehicle, a green 1998 GMC Envoy, was locked and contained a digital camera and personal identification card at the time of the theft.
