Manassas Fire & Rescue Beat 9/9/11

On Thursday Sept, 8, Fire Marshals from the City of Manassas Fire and Rescue Department obtained a felony arrest warrant charging Paul Edward Perude, 38, of 9021 Centreville Road, Lot 5, in Manassas with intentionally setting fire to a neighbor’s 1987 Ford Ranger pick-up truck in the early morning hours of Monday Aug. 29.

Fire and rescue units arrived on the scene and found the truck fully involved in flames and worked to quickly extinguish the fire before it could spread to a nearby mobile home. Damage was estimated at $1,800.  There were no injuries.

Perdue has been charged with one felony count of burning or destroying personal property greater than $200, (Virginia Code 18.2-81), and one misdemeanor count of obstructing justice (Virginia Code 18.2-460).

Perdue was arrested Sept. 8 by city fire marshals and police officers without incident at his home and is currently being held on a $5,000 bond at the Prince William County Adult Detention Center.  A court date is set for Oct. 17, 2011.
