Manassas city police recruits graduate from training academy

Nine Manassas VA City Police Department recruits were among the graduates of the 125th session of the Northern Virginia Criminal Justice Training Academy’s Basic Law Enforcement, according to Lt. Brian Larkin of the city’s investigative services division. This was the largest class to graduate in the department’s history, according to the police lieutenant.

The 26-week basic law enforcement school is divided into four modules: Criminal Investigation, Legal, Patrol and Skills. Recruits must meet three separate proficiency standards in order to successfully complete the school. Standards include attaining a minimum cumulative grade average in each of the four modules, successfully passing all state-mandated objectives and criteria and successfully completing all performance-based tests, which include major components such as First-Aid, CPR, Defensive Tactics, Firearms and Driver Training courses.

The graduating law enforcement personnel are Jin Bae, Kenyatta Grigsby, Colin Heinke. Dustin Hogue, Jesse Katzman, Anna McGuiney. Adam Plourde, Justin Rollins and Courtney Swenk.
