Crime Report
July 8, 2015
Larceny
On July 6, 2015, Manassas City Police responded to the 8900 block of Fort Dr for a report of a larceny. The reporting party told officers that sometime between 12:00AM on July 5th and 6:00PM on July 6th, someone stole several items from the garage at the residence. Stolen items, valued together at over $1,200.00, included construction boxes, bicycles, and speakers.
Destruction of Property
On July 6, 2015, Manassas City Police responded to Carina’s Hair Design (8643 Mathis Ave) for a report of a vandalism. The reporting party showed officers where someone had shattered the front window of the business, causing $200.00 in damage.
Vandalism to Auto
At approximately 5:30PM on July 5, 2015, Manassas City Police responded to the 8300 block of Shady Grove Cir for a report of a vandalism to auto. The reporting party told officers that sometime between 5:30AM on July 4th and 10:30AM on July 5th, his 2003 Mercedes Kompressor had sustained burn marks on the front hood, the top of the vehicle, and the top of the rear trunk. Damages were estimated at $500.00. Spent firework debris was also located in the area of the vehicle.
Hit & Run
At approximately 1:20AM on July 4, 2015, Manassas City Police responded to Mackey’s American Pub (9412 Main St) for a report of a hit and run. The reporting party told officers that sometime between 11:15PM on July 3rd and 1:10AM on July 4th when she was inside the restaurant, the front end of her vehicle was struck, causing $2,000.00 in damage.
Hit & Run
At approximately 9:50AM on July 3, 2015, Manassas City Police responded to the 9500 block of Liberia Ave for a report of a hit and run that had just occurred. The reporting party told officers that as he was stopped at a red light heading southbound on Liberia Ave, a silver sedan being driven by a Hispanic male struck his from behind, causing $250.00 in damages. The suspect driver directed the victim to pull into the adjacent parking lot, then drove off.
Throwing Objects at Vehicles
At approximately 4:30PM on July 2, 2015, Manassas City Police responded to the 9400 block of China Grove Ct for a report of two juveniles throwing objects at cards. The reporting party told officers that a few minutes prior, she was driving on Wellington Rd approaching Hampton Rd when she observed two juveniles standing behind a tree. The two juveniles allegedly emerged and threw a cup containing a liquid at her car, causing her to swerve in the road. There was no visible damage to the vehicle. The victim said the juveniles then road their bicycles to the 9800 block of Buckner Rd where the victim confronted them and called Police. The two juveniles were both identified as 11-year-old males of Manassas. This is an ongoing investigation.
Hit & Run
At approximately 11:40AM on July 2, 2015, Manassas City Police responded to the 9800 block of Town Ln for a report of a hit and run. The reporting party told officers that his vehicle was parked on the street in front of his residence when he saw a peach-colored van strike its rear fender, causing $1,000.00 in damage. The suspect driver was described as a Hispanic female, approximately 40-50 years old. After the collision, the suspect fled the scene in the van, traveling southbound on Town Ln.
Auto Theft
On July 2, 2015, Manassas City Police met with a resident on the 10200 block of Fountain Cir for a report of a stolen vehicle. The reporting party told officers that her gray 2005 Infiniti G35 Coupe valued at $5,000.00 was stolen while she was on vacation. The vehicle was discovered missing from its parking spot on Fountain Cir July 1st.
**Arrests**
Road Rage – Arrest
At approximately 3:55PM on July 1, 2015, Manassas City Police responded to the parking lot of Police Headquarters (9518 Fairview Ave) for a road rage incident in progress. Upon arrival, officers observed two individuals yelling at each other outside of their vehicles. One of the drivers then left, making a right onto Fairview Ave towards Wellington Rd. Officers initiated a traffic stop and were able to bring the vehicle to a stop on the 9500 block of Richmond Ave. The driver, John Charles DELLINGER, Jr., told officers that he was in a verbal argument with the other driver at a 7-Eleven on Dumfries Rd, which had escalated to a physical fight. The second driver then allegedly urged DELLINGER to follow him to his residence, but instead led him to Police Headquarters at which point Police responded. During the course of the investigation, officers were also notified of a shoplifting incident that had just occurred at Giant Food (10100 Dumfries Rd) and were able to identify DELLINGER as the suspect. DELLINGER (26) of 11807 Lucasville Rd, Manassas, VA 20112 was charged with driving on a revoked license (7th offense) and shoplifting, and was also served an outstanding warrant for an unrelated offense in Warren County. DELLINGER was held without bond and has a pending court date of August 10, 2015.
