Crime Report
July 20, 2015
Larceny
At approximately 7:55PM on July 18, 2015, Manassas City Police responded to ARPA Automotives (9025 Centreville Rd) for a report of a larceny. The reporting party told officers that at 10:30AM on July 18th, he discovered the business’s rear gate ajar and with several items stolen; the engine block and transmission for a BMW M3 and two mufflers, valued altogether at $5,500.00. The gate was last seen fully secured on 2:00PM on July 17th.
Destruction of Property
At approximately 11:50PM on July 16, 2015, Manassas City Police responded to the Manassas Muslim Association (9509 Euclid Ave) for a second report of vandalism since July 12th. The reporting party told officers that at approximately 10:40PM, there was a loud noise that caught the attention of those inside. When the caller walked to the rear of the property, he observed damage to the copper tubing on one of the air conditioning units.
Previously released (July 16, 2015):
At approximately 6:20PM on July 13, 2015, Manassas City Police responded to the Manassas Muslim Association Temple (9509 Euclid Ave) in reference to a destruction of property. The reporting party told officers that at approximately 4:45PM, the outdoor air conditioning units were discovered to be in nonworking order. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that two of the three units had sustained damage to their copper tubing. Damages were estimated at approximately $1,500.00.
Burglary
On July 16, 2015, Manassas City Police met with a resident on the 8600 block of Diane Ct for a report of a burglary that occurred in the past. The reporting party told officers that sometime between 5:00PM on July 7th and 5:00PM on July 8th, sometime entered the residence while the new tenants were staying elsewhere awaiting furniture delivery and stole clothing and linen items valued at $2,000.00.
**Arrests**
Burglary – Arrest
At approximately 8:50PM on July 18, 2015, Manassas City Police responded to the 10200 block of Cleary St for a report of a burglary in progress. Upon arrival, officers met with the 43-year-old female victim who stated that after having been gone since July 17th, she came home to find an unknown white male subject in her home. When the victim entered the residence, she was verbally confronted by the offender who then pushed her and fled in his vehicle. The victim’s residence was locked at the time of the burglary.
Through the course of their investigation, officers identified the suspect as Richard D. THOMAS (52) of 7910 Saddlehorn Ct, Manassas, VA 20109. THOMAS was located by officers near the 9900 block of Wellington Rd and apprehended during a traffic stop. He was charged with driving under the influence, burglary with intent to commit assault and battery, assault and battery, driving after forfeiture of license, and unreasonable refusal of a blood, breath, or urine test. THOMAS was held without bond and has a pending court date of September 15, 2015.
