Vandalism
At approximately 5 p.m. on September 7, 2012, a Manassas City Police Officer responded to the 8500 block of Fairfax St for a report of vandalism. Upon arriving to the scene, the Officer learned that the City street sign at the corner of Fairfax St and Tackett Ave had been removed from the ground and was currently lying in the yard of an adjacent residence.
The Officer was provided with surveillance footage by a nearby resident, which revealed that at approximately 2 a.m. on September 7, 2012 an unidentified vehicle approached Fairfax St from Liberia Ave and stopped next to the sign. Two males then exited the vehicle and the driver left the scene. The two males then shook the street sign until it became loose, and proceeded to throw it into a yard nearby before leaving on foot down Tackett Ave in the direction of King Carter St.
This investigation is ongoing. The Manassas City Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward up to $1000 for information that leads to an arrest in these cases. The confidential 24-hour tip line is (703) 330-0330.
