Manassas City Police Beat 8/27/12

Robbery
Manassas City Police Officers are investigating a robbery that occurred at approximately 4:20 p.m. on August 25, 2012, in the 9600 block of Byrd Drive. The victim told officers that he was walking in the area of Byrd Drive, near Aspen Place, when two black males assaulted him and stole an undisclosed amount of money, along with a pack of cigarettes from him. The victim told officers that one of the males had long hair. He could not supply officers with a better description of the suspects. This is an ongoing investigation.

Burglary
On August 23, 2012, Manassas City Police Officers were called to the 9300 block of Taney Road, regarding a burglary. The victim told officers that she arrived home at approximately 2 p.m. on the same date, when she observed two black males running from the rear of her residence. She said that she did not think anything of it until later on in the day when she realized that approximately 29 of her Playstation games had been stolen. When asked, the victim told officers that she believes that the offenders entered the residence through an open rear window. Both suspects were described as 13-14-year-old black males. This is an ongoing investigation.

Burglary
On August 24, 2012, Manassas City Police Officers were called to the 8900 block of Cannon Ridge Drive, regarding a burglary. The victim told officers that between 9 and 10:15 p.m. on the same date, someone broke into his residence and stole a burgundy in color Gateway laptop computer, along with its leather briefcase. The victim could not supply officers with an approximate value of the stolen items. The offender(s) gained access into the residence through a rear patio door. This is an ongoing investigation.

Larceny
Manassas City Police Officers are investigating three incidents involving thefts of running shoes.

The first incident occurred at approximately 3:15 p.m. on August 23, 2012, in the 8400 block of Mckenzie Circle. The victim told officers that he had made arrangements with a potential buyer regarding a pair of running shoes that he was selling online. The buyers arrived on scene, removed the shoes from inside victim’s vehicle then ran from the area. The running shoes were valued at approximately $220. One suspect was described as approximately 17 years old, 5’7” tall, slim built with short black hair. The other suspect was described as a black male, approximately 17 years old, wearing a dreadlock style haircut.

The second incident occurred between 3:25 and 4:35 p.m. on August 25, 2012, in the 10200 block of Calypso Drive. The victim told officers that he made arrangements to sell a pair of running shoes, valued at approximately $400 to someone online. He said that two black males arrived at the predetermined location when one male asked to try the shoes on. The offender placed the shoes on his feet then ran from the scene with the other male in tow. Both suspects were described as ages 17-18, weighing 150-160 lbs, black hair with a low cut hair style.

The third incident occurred at approximately 9 p.m. on August 26, 2012, also in the 10200 block of Calypso Drive. The victim arrived on scene and met with five black males. One of the subjects asked to try the shoes on but the victim refused. The subject then punched him twice in the face, took the box with the shoes and ran off. One of the running shoes fell out of the box and was recovered by the victim. The box was also recovered a short distance away by police K-9 officers. The shoes were valued at approximately $170. A short time later, a male matching the description of one of the suspects was found in the area. Further investigation revealed that he was involved in the robbery. The 16-year-old Manassas juvenile was taken into custody and charged with one count of robbery. He was held at the Prince William Juvenile Detention Center. His court date is pending. These investigations are ongoing.
