Manassas City Police Beat 5/8/12

Robbery
On May 3, 2012, Manassas City Police Officers responded to the 8600 block of Liberia Avenue, regarding a robbery. The victim told officers that he was robbed at approximately 8 p.m. while selling ice cream from an ice cream cart. The victim said that the suspect displayed a box cutter and stole an undisclosed amount of money. The offender was described as a black male, approximately 230-260 lbs and 6’0” tall.
This is an ongoing investigation.

Larceny from Vehicle
Manassas City Police Officers are investigating a larceny from a vehicle that occurred between 4 and 6:15 p.m. on May 6, 2012. The victim told officers that he parked his vehicle in the parking lot of the 7-11 store, located at 9056 Liberia Avenue, when someone(s) went into it and stole approximately $200 in hand tools, a cell phone and prescription narcotics. The vehicle was unlocked at the time of offense. This is an ongoing investigation.

Residents are reminded not to leave anything of value inside their vehicles and to always keep their vehicles locked.

Shoplifting
On Saturday, May 5, 2012, at approximately 10:20 p.m., Manassas City Police Officers responded to Roger’s Service Station, located at 9600 Grant Avenue, regarding a shoplifting incident. The clerk told officers that she observed a subject place several bottles of beer in his jacket then run out after she confronted him. The male was described as black, approximately 16-17 years old, 5’10” tall, slender build and having a small afro. The suspect was wearing black pants and a black shirt with yellow or gold writing at the time of the offense. This is an ongoing investigation.

Shoplifting
On Saturday May 5, 2012 at approximately 4:50 p.m., Manassas City Police Officers responded to the Dollar Store, located at 9919 Wellington Road, regarding a shoplifting incident. The clerk told officers that three black females were in the store and stole approximately $20 worth of hair products. He said that he chased them out of the store. The first female was described as black and thin. She was wearing a blue shirt with white capri style pants and black sandals. The second female was described as black, heavy set, wearing her hair in a bun or ponytail and wearing a black shirt, grey shorts and black sandals. The third subject was described as heavy set, wearing a white shirt, blue shorts and no shoes. Her hair was in hair curlers. The estimated age of all three girls was between 13-15 years old. This is an ongoing investigation.

Vandalism
Manassas City Police Officers are investigating a vandalism that occurred on May 5, 2012, at approximately 5:55 p.m. in the 9800 block of Buckner Road. The victim told the officer that a young male was seen standing on the victim’s fence when he broke it. The victim believes that the male was attempting to steal bicycles and tools that were located in the backyard of the residence. The victim could not give the officer a description of the offender. This is an ongoing investigation.
