Manassas City Police Beat 5/22/12

Destruction of Property Arrest
On May 19, 2012, at approximately 1:30 a.m., a Manassas City Police Officer was patrolling the parking lot of the Olde Town Sports Pub, when he was flagged down and told of a fight inside the restaurant. The officer then observed several males escorting a combative male outside. Further investigation revealed that the male had been involved in a fight inside the restaurant and had broken several items belonging to the establishment. Jason Daniel Johnson, of 5304 Davis Ford Road, was placed under arrest and charged with Disorderly In Public and Destruction of Property. He was transported to the Prince William County Adult Detention Center where he was released on a $2,000 unsecured bond. His court date was set for July 31, 2012.

Robbery
Manassas City Police Officers are investigating a robbery that occurred on May 19, 2012, at approximately 11 p.m., in the Grant Avenue Shopping Center, located in the 9600 block of Grant Avenue. The victim told officers that he was walking with a female when he was assaulted and robbed by four black males. The victim sustained an injury to his eye and lacerations to several parts of his body. The offenders also robbed him of an undisclosed amount of money. When asked, the victim said that he believes that the female had set him up to be robbed. She was described as black, approximately 5’6”, mid twenties, heavy set with white braces on her teeth. She was also described as having blonde or red streaks in her hair. The victim could not give officers a description of the males that were involved in the attack. This is an ongoing investigation.

Larceny
On May 20, 2012, Manassas City Police Officers responded to the 9600 block of Branchview Lane, regarding the theft of a Garmin GPS unit. The victim told officers that the GPS, which was valued at approximately $100, was removed from his unlocked vehicle, sometime throughout the night. While officers were still in the neighborhood, another victim approached them and told them that a GPS, also valued at approximately $100, had been stolen from his unlocked vehicle.  This is an ongoing investigation.

Larceny
On May 20, 2012, at approximately 11:35 a.m., Manassas City Police Officers responded to the 9000 block of Sandalwood Drive, regarding the theft of a purse from a vehicle. The victim told officers that between 10:30 a.m. on May 19, 2012 and 9 a.m. on May 20, 2012, someone(s) stole a purse from her unlocked vehicle. This is an ongoing investigation.

Residents are reminded not to leave anything of value inside their vehicles and to always keep their vehicles locked.
