Aggravated Assault
Manassas City Police Officers are investigating an assault that occurred on April 14, 2012, at approximately 10:30 p.m. in the 9000 block of Sandalwood Drive. The victim told officers that he was walking home from work when he was approached by a young black male. He said that the male punched him in the face, causing injuries to his nose. The suspect ran off after the victim attempted to grab him. The victim said that he thought the suspect was attempting to rob him. The victim was treated by rescue personnel at the scene. The offender was described as a thin young male, approximately 5’7” tall. He was last seen wearing all black clothing and running towards the area of Grant Avenue. This is an ongoing investigation.
Aggravated Assault
Manassas City Police Officers are investigating an assault that occurred at approximately 7:30 p.m. on April 13, 2012, in the 9300 block of Byrd Drive.
The victim told officers that he was walking on Byrd Drive when he was confronted by several subjects who started yelling obscenities at him. He said that he was pushed to the ground after one of the males punched him in the face. One male continued to punch the victim in the face while the others held him down. The victim sustained a broken nose and two broken jaws stemming from the assault. This is an ongoing investigation.
Larceny
On April 15, 2012, Manassas City Police Officers were called to the 8900 block of Virginia Avenue, regarding a larceny. The victim told officers that between 8:00 p.m. on April 14, 2012 and 11:30 p.m. on April 15, 2012, someone(s) stole a Garmin navigation system, valued at approximately $300 and a black hunting knife, valued at approximately $50 from his unlocked car. This is an ongoing investigation.
Residents are reminded not to leave anything of value inside their vehicles and to always keep their vehicles locked.
Vandalism
Manassas City Police Officers are investigating a vandalism that occurred between 3 p.m. on April 13, 2012 and 7 a.m. on April14, 2012, at Clipper’s Hair Salon, located at 8785 Mathis Avenue. The victim told officers that he arrived at the business and discovered that someone had broken one of the windows of the business. The window was valued at approximately $200. This is an ongoing investigation.
