Manassas City Police Beat 1/18/12

Search Warrant
During the early morning hours of Jan. 12, 2012, Manassas City Police Investigators, in conjunction with the Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC) and the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), executed a search warrant at 10070 Field Court, in the City of Manassas, regarding the possession and distribution of child pornography. This stems from a three-month investigation into persons distributing child pornography over the internet. Numerous items were removed from the residence.
Joseph Duffy Phillips, 34, of 10070 Field Court was identified as the suspect, through investigation and interviews. Phillips was arrested on Jan. 17, 2012 and charged with Possession and Distribution of Child Pornography and held on a $10,000 bond. A court date is pending in Prince William County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.

Possession of Controlled Substance
On Jan. 12, 2012, at approximately 10:30 p.m., a Manassas City police officer was on foot patrol near the “Super 8” motel, located at 8691 Phoenix Drive, when he came upon a suspicious vehicle occupied by two females. Further investigation revealed that the two females were in possession of Oxycodone, which was not prescribed to either of them.

Taken into custody were Areaulia Archie Jackson, 51, of Bealeton, VA and Sabrina Charmine Campbell , 30, of 8671 Phoenix Drive. Both suspects were charged with Possession of a Schedule I or II Narcotic. They were seen by the duty magistrate and released on a $5,000 unsecured bond. Their court dates are unknown.

Domestic Violence Assault
On Jan. 14, 2012, at approximately 4 p.m., a Manassas City police officer was on foot patrol inside the Prince William Hospital Emergency Center, when he witnessed an intoxicated patient assault a family member. The officer quickly placed the intoxicated male under arrest and removed him from the hospital room.

The suspect, Leonard Thomas Mikus, 59, of 13881Amy Lane, was charged with Domestic Assault and Public Intoxication. Mikus was processed at the Prince William County Adult Detention Center then released on his own signature by the duty magistrate. He was then escorted back to the hospital and hospitalized under an Emergency Custody Order.

Assault on Law Enforcement
At approximately midnight on Jan. 16, 2012, Manassas City police officers were conducting a traffic stop on Victoria Street, near Liberia Avenue, when the vehicle’s passenger, John Khalil Fofanah, 23, of Annandale, VA leaned out the passenger window and spat on one of the officers. Fofanah was removed from the vehicle after a small struggle. He was placed under arrest and charged with Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer and Resisting Arrest. He was held at the Prince William County Adult Detention Center, with no bond. His court date was set for Feb. 14, 2012.

Assault on Law Enforcement
On Jan. 15, 2012, at approximately 1:50 p.m., a Manassas City police officer was patrolling the Old Town area when he was advised that a green Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicle had struck a parked vehicle and left the area. The suspect’s vehicle was located traveling on Portner Drive, near Grant Avenue.

Further investigation revealed that the driver, Medena Jones of Falls Church, VA, was intoxicated. Jones was placed under arrest and charged with Driving under the Influence and Hit and Run. While at the Prince William County Adult Detention Center, Jones kicked two officers, adding two counts of Assault on Law Enforcement Officers to her charges. Jones was held at the detention center, with no bond. Her court date was set for March 13, 2012.

Burglary
Manassas City Police are investigating a burglary of a residence that occurred in the 8500 block of Ballantrae St. between 9 a.m.  and 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 17, 2012. The suspect(s) entered the residence through a rear window Taken from the dwelling was an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency, jewelry and coins. This investigation is ongoing.
