Manassas City Police Beat 12/29/11

Motor Vehicle Theft
Manassas City police officers were called to Baker’s Transmission Services, located at 9065 Jerry’s Circle, regarding the theft of a motor vehicle. The victim told officers that she dropped her car off for repairs on Dec. 18, 2011 and returned on Dec. 26, 2011 to pay for the repairs, when she was informed that the vehicle was missing. The stolen car, a white, 2001 Chrysler 300, was valued at $20,000. This is an ongoing investigation.

Stolen Firearm
On Dec. 28, 2011, Manassas City police officers were called to the 10200 block of Battlefield Drive, regarding the theft of a Glock 26 handgun. The victim told officers that he left the gun in his vehicle on Dec. 18, 2011 and on the following day, realized that it was missing. The gun was valued at $535. This is an ongoing investigation.

Theft from Motor Vehicle
Manassas City Police officers are investigating the theft of a Honda generator, stolen from a van. The theft occurred in the 8900 block of Traveller Street, between 10 p.m. on Dec. 27, 2011 and 9 a.m. on Dec. 28, 2011. The offender(s) gained access to the generator by cutting the chain that secured it to the vehicle. The stolen generator was valued at $1,000. This is an ongoing investigation.

Narcotics Arrest
On Dec. 20, 2011, at approximately 7 p.m., a Manassas City police officer was traveling south on Nokesville Road when he observed a stranded motorist on the northbound lane. The officer turned around to assist the motorist. While waiting for assistance, the officer decided to call in a K-9 officer to conduct a “free air sniff” of the vehicle. The dog alerted on the inside of the vehicle. Further investigation revealed that the driver, Makiyah Clark, 21, of 8957 Weems Road, was in possession of a cocaine smoking device. Clark was arrested and charged with Possession of a Schedule I or II Narcotic. She was held at the Prince William County Adult Detention Center, on a $7,500 bond. Her court date was set for Jan. 11, 2012.
