Assault on Law Enforcement
On Nov. 15, 2011, at approximately 7 p.m., Manassas City Police Officers responded to the 10200 block of Chervil Court regarding a burglary in progress. Upon the officers’ arrival, they encountered a subject, later identified as Sampson Joseph Din, in the backyard of the residence. During questioning, Din swung an unknown object at one of the officers then attempted to run away.
Sampson Joseph Din, 47, of Culpeper, VA, continued to fight officers while being placed under arrest. Din was taken into custody and charged with Breaking and Entering, Possession of Burglarious Tools, Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer x2 and Resisting Arrest by Force. He was held at the Prince William Adult Detention Center on a $12,000 bond. His court date was set for Dec. 6, 2011. The object that Din swung at one of the officers turned out to be a pair of pliers, according to police.
