Vandalism, Assault – Arrest
Manassas City Police officers responded to a report of a vandalism in progress on the 9300 block of Taney Road at approximately 5:00PM Friday, October 19. Police were advised that a man was walking in the roadway and kicking cars. A witness told an officer on scene that the man had assaulted a driver of one of the cars. After positively identifying the offender, an officer told him he was under arrest.
The agitated and apparently intoxicated offender resisted arrest and the officer used a TASER in order to gain control of him. While officers were placing the offender in a cruiser, the offender used his head to strike one of the officers. The officer was not injured, nor was the offender. The offender was Dearious Davis, 25, of 4544 McMillian Dr., Sumerduck, VA. He was charged with felony destruction of property, misdemeanor destruction of property, simple assault & battery, assault & battery of a law enforcement officer, obstruction of justice, resisting arrest, and public intoxication. He was held at the ADC with no bond, pending a November 13 court date.
Convenience Store Robbed
The Manassas City Police Department is investigating the robbery of the Wellington Market at 9911 Wellington Road. The robbery occurred at approximately 6:58PM Saturday, October 20. Video surveillance showed a man enter the store, display a large knife to the clerk, take cash from the register, then flee on foot. The suspect was described as appearing to be an African American male, approximately 30 years old and about 6 feet tall, wearing a black sweatshirt with a gold tribal design on the back. He had his face partially covered by a white cloth.
