Assault on Law Enforcement
On Oct. 8, 2011, at approximately 1:35 a.m., Manassas City Police Officers were called to the area of Church Street and Main Street in regards to a large fight. While on scene, officers encountered a subject in front of the City Tavern restaurant, bleeding from his mouth. Officers attempted to help the subject but were met with resistance. The subject, later identified as Gary William Gibson, 24, of 9252 Garnet Court, became combative with the officers and had to be subdued with the assistance of a T.A.S.E.R device.
Gibson was placed under arrest and charged with Felony Assault on Law Enforcement, Disorderly Conduct, Resisting Arrest and Public Intoxication.
He was held at the Prince William County Adult Detention Center on a $10,000 bond. His court date was set for Nov. 22, 2011.
Home Invasion
Manassas City Police are investigating a home invasion that occurred at approximately midnight, on Oct. 9, 2011, in the 9700 block of Aspen Place.
The victim told officers that he was asleep in his locked bedroom when someone kicked the bedroom door open. He said that he confronted the intruders when he was punched in the back of the head by the male intruder. The intruders ran off with the victim’s wallet and an undisclosed amount of money. The wallet was found in the area a short time later. The victim could not state how the offenders entered his residence. The suspects were described as one black male and one black female. This is an ongoing investigation.
Larceny
On Oct. 6, 2011, Shoppers Food Warehouse, located at 9540 Liberia Avenue, was the victim of a larceny. Sometime between 3:05 a.m. and 3:55 a.m., a male and a female, posing as security guards were granted access into the business, while inside, the female requested but was denied the cash register keys.
While the male subject distracted the employee, the female subject stole approximately $211 worth of cigarettes. The duo left the area in a red Honda vehicle.
The female subject was described as black, approximately 5’5” tall and weighing approximately 150 lbs. At the time, employees could not provide officers with the male subject’s description. This incident was caught on surveillance camera and will be turned over to authorities as soon as possible. This is an ongoing investigation.
Burglary
On Oct. 8, 2011, at approximately 9:15 p.m., someone attempted to break into a residence in the 10200 block of Chervil Court. The victim advised officers that he was on the top level of his residence when he heard noises coming from the lower level.
He went to investigate when he found an unknown male subject attempting to pry open his back door. The suspect jumped off the deck and ran off after the victim yelled at him. The suspect was described as a clean shaven black male, approximately 30-35 years old, 6’0” tall, and approximately 200 lbs. He was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with either dark jeans or dark grey sweatpants. Officers recovered property that was discarded by the suspect, at the scene. This is an ongoing investigation.
Burglary
Manassas City Police are investigating a Burglary that occurred sometime between 10 a.m. and 2:40 p.m., on Oct. 7, 2011, in the 9200 block of Taney Road.
The victim advised officers that she arrived home to find that someone(s) had entered her home, which was unlocked at the time, and stole and an undisclosed amount of money, jewelry and beer. The offenders ransacked the residence before leaving. There are no suspects’ descriptions at this time. This is an ongoing investigation.
Motor Vehicle Theft
The owner of Auto Land Car dealership at 8905 Mathis Avenue, informed officers that on between 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 9, 2011 and 10:25 p.m. on Oct. 10, 2011, someone(s) stole a black1999 Honda Civic from his lot. The victim stated that the keys were secured in the business’ lock box and that the vehicle’s window was broken in order to gain access.
