Man arrested near Potomac Mills in connection with Aspen Place incident in Manassas

Police Activity on Aspen Place Update

Through a joint investigation with the Northern Virginia Gang task force, ATF, and the Manassas City Police Department arrest warrants were issued for Manuel Gonzalez for possession of a fire arm by a felon, use of a fire arm in the commission of a felony, shooting at an occupied vehicle, and discharge of a fire arm in public.

Members from this joint investigative team arrested Gonzalez in Prince William County near Potomac Mills Mall at approximately 8:30 p.m. March 3.

While the arrest of Gonzalez was occurring, members from the ATF, the Virginia State Police and Manassas City Police executed a search warrant at 9605 Aspen Place to recover evidence related to this incident.

Information from 4 p.m.
Due to the nature of the fire arms that may be in the home on Aspen Place, Manassas City Police Department has asked a team with the Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) to consult on the activity.

Previous information:
On March 3, 2016 at approximately 1:30 p.m. Manassas City Police were called to the scene for shots fired in the 9600 block of Aspen Place in Manassas.  Two Hispanic males were observed firing at a passing vehicle.  Suspects were then seen running into 9605 Aspen Lane.  An anonymous source has told police that there may be high powered rifles and automatic rifles in the home.  Police have recovered bullets and several vehicles have sustained damage from the gunfire.

School children on the north side of the Georgetown South Community have been held in school until the situation is clear for them to travel home.  More details will be available as the situation is resolved.  Residents are asked to stay away from the area until it is cleared.
