Male, 16, turns self into police July 20 in Filarette Street shooting

**UPDATES** Shooting Investigation *ARREST – On July 3, detectives with the Robbery Unit identified the suspect involved in a shooting that occurred in the 14400 block of Filarete St in Woodbridge on July 2. Detectives subsequently obtained petitions for the suspect, identified as a 16-year-old male, who turned himself in at the Gar-Field Station in Woodbridge without incident on July 20.

Shooting Investigation [Previously Released] – On July 2 at 2:45PM, officers responded to the 14400 block of Filarete St in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate a shooting. When officers arrived, they located a 23-year-old man suffering from gunshot wound to the upper body. Officers used their Department issued trauma kits to provide immediate first aid to the victim before rescue crews arrived on scene. The victim was flown to an area hospital with serious, non-life threatening injuries. The initial investigation revealed that the victim was involved in an altercation with an unknown suspect. During the encounter, the victim was shot. After the shooting, the suspect fled the area. At this point, this incident does not appear to be random. The investigation continues.
