Local area to shine in new movie due out in June

On June 10, Mestey Films Productions will present the premier of “For Money or Love,” an independent movie that was filmed here in the Lake Ridge community and some of the surrounding areas.

“For Money or Love” is the story of a wealthy man named Patrick who questions the validity of his fiancé‘s love. When his father puts a hold on his finances, Patrick discovers whether his fiancé is in the relationship for money or love. Patrick’s older brother Sean embarks on his own journey of self-discovery when he falls in love with a woman who has an eight-year old daughter. The playboy learns how good his life could be if he is willing to change his lifestyle.

The film is a combination of romance, comedy and drama, and is meant to be enjoyed by men and women alike.

Vianlix Mestey is the CEO of Mestey Films Productions. The company was established in 2004, and Mestey is the Producer, Director, Casting Director, Actor and Screenwriter of the productions. Vivian and Felix Mestey, her mother and father, are Vice Presidents. Sister Vivian Mestey-Wolfe contributed as the Chief Operating Officer and Producer. She sadly passed away in 2011, but her influence is largely present in this film. This family-run company produces quality films with hometown heart.

The movie was filmed in Lake Ridge, Occoquan, Stafford and Alexandria. “Our first production, “Deception”, was filmed in Georgia. It was great, but required a big budget,” explained Mestey. “I went to a lot of big cities when searching for the location of “For Money or Love.” They were so complicated. The city of Occoquan was so easy and helpful.”

“The actors in “For Money or Love” all live in Maryland and Virginia, which helped our budget,” said Mestey. “The local community was so helpful during production. Neighbors lent us their homes, and places like Top Golf in Alexandria opened their businesses to us. It was a genuine community effort,” said the film enthusiast.

The movie premier will be held on June 10 at the Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton, VA. “The place is full of gorgeous pieces by local artists,” said Mestey. Tickets will be available for purchase on the company website. For $35, patrons will enjoy a sampling of wares from local vendors, popcorn for purchase and an opportunity to meet the actors. Local actors in this film include Scott Doroski, Jennifer Dohm, Scott A. Schneider, and Mestey herself.

“There is so much talent on the east coast,” gushed Mestey of the film’s actors. “People think you have to go to Hollywood to act, but I love finding new talent here.”
