Linden man charged in fatal crash on Davis Ford Rd.

Fatal Crash Investigation *ARREST – On April 4, the driver of the 2013 Ford Fusion involved in the fatal crash in which a flagger (traffic signaler) was killed in the 6600 block of Davis Ford Rd in Manassas on March 24 was charged in connection to the collision.
Arrested on April 4:
Kevin Wesley RAYNOR, 55, of 348 Freezeland Manor Dr in Linden
Charged with reckless driving and failing to obey an authorized flagger
Court Date: May 3, 2015 | Bond: Released on a Court Summons

Fatal Crash Investigation [Previously Released] – On March 24 at 12:19PM, investigators from the Crash Investigation Unit responded to the 6600 block of Davis Ford Rd in Manassas (20111) to investigate a vehicle crash involving a pedestrian. The investigation revealed that the driver of a 2013 Ford Fusion was traveling southbound on Davis Ford Rd approaching a mobile work zone in the above area. As the driver neared the work zone, he failed to stop for the flagger and subsequently struck him. The force of the collision pushed the flagger into the northbound lane where he was inadvertently struck by the driver of a 2014 Mercedes C250. The flagger was pronounced dead at the scene. Both drivers of the striking vehicles were not injured and remained at the scene of the crash. The flagger was dressed in a florescent green vest and pants holding a stop sign mounted on a metal pole. Speed, alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in this crash. Charges are pending for the driver of the Ford Fusion. The investigation continues.

The pedestrian was identified as Gary Mason LEE, 25, of Hampton
 
The driver of the 2014 Mercedes C250 was identified as a 35 year old woman of Manassas

**INCIDENTS**

Fatal Crash Investigation – On April 2 at 7:11PM, investigators from the Crash Investigation Unit responded to the 13800 block of Meadowbrook Rd in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate a crash involving a motorcycle. The investigation revealed that the victim was working on a 1997 Yamaha Genesis when he decided to take it for a test ride. The victim was operating the Genesis at a high rate of speed in the above area when he lost control and struck a parked Chevrolet Trail Blazer. The force of the collision separated the victim from the motorcycle and he collided with a parked Ford F-150 pickup truck. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim was not wearing a helmet at the time at the time of the incident. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in this crash. It is unknown if mechanical issues with the Genesis were a factor. The investigation continues.

The victim was identified as Eugene JOHNSON, Jr., 21, of Woodbridge

Attempted Armed Robbery – On April 2 at 9:36AM, officers responded to the area of Sourwood Way and Javins Pl in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a robbery. The victim, a 37 year old man of Lorton, reported to police that he picked up three unknown men in his cab then drove to the above area. During the encounter, one of the men brandished a handgun and demanded money. At one point, the man struck the victim on the head with the handgun. The men fled the area without taking any property and police were contacted. Minor injuries were reported.  A police K-9 was used to search for the suspects who were not located. The investigation continues.

Shooting into an Occupied Dwelling – On April 2 at 1:55AM, officers responded to the 13600 block of Lindendale Rd in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate a shots fired call. The homeowner reported hearing several gunshots in front of the residence. Upon further investigation, several bullets were found lodged in an interior wall. A parked car in front of the residence was also struck by two bullets. Officers checked the area and located multiple shell casings in the roadway. No injuries were reported. The investigation continues.

Reckless Handling of a Firearm – On April 3 at 5:17PM, officers responded to the area of Benita Fitzgerald Dr and Brazil Cir in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate a shots fired call. Multiple callers reported to police that multiple gunshots were heard in the above area.  Officers checked the area and located several shell casings on Benita Fitzgerald Dr near Brazil Cir. No injuries or property damage were reported.

Reckless Handling of a Firearm – On April 2 at 10:12PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 4900 block of Kirwyn Ct in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate a shots fired call. The homeowner reported to police that an unknown man knocked on the door and asked for an unknown person. When the homeowner stated the person did not live there, the man left.  A short time later, gunshots were heard outside the residence. Officers checked the area and located shell casings in front of the residence. No injuries or property damage were reported. The investigation continues.

Reckless Handling of a Firearm – On April 1 at 11:02PM, officers responded to the 2900 block of Stockholm Way in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a shots fired call. Several callers reported to police hearing an argument between unknown parties in the above area when gunshots were heard. Officers checked the area and did not locate any shell casings. No injuries or property damage were reported. The investigation continues.

Residential Burglary – On April 1 at 9:40AM, officers responded to a residence located in the 16100 block of Crusade Ct in Haymarket (20169) to investigate a burglary. The homeowner reported to police that he was walking to a detached garage on his property at 1:30AM when he saw that the door had been opened and an unknown man was standing next to the garage. When the homeowner challenged the suspect, he fled the area on foot.  No property was reported missing. The investigation continues.

Commercial Burglary – On April 1 at 7:18AM, officers responded to the Old Towne Landscaping located at 9041 Burwell Rd in Nokesville (20181) to investigate a burglary. The business owner reported to police that two unknown men and one unknown woman are seen on video surveillance entering the business around 1:27AM through an unlocked front door.  A computer tablet and several cans of beer were reported missing. No other property was reported missing. The investigation continues.

Attempted Residential Burglary – On April 2 at 6:57PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 16600 block of Reservoir Lp in Dumfries (22026) to investigate an attempted burglary. The homeowner reported to police that sometime between 6:00PM and 6:57PM, entry was attempted into the home through a rear door which was found damaged. No entry was made and no property was reported missing. 

**ARRESTS**

Strangulation | Domestic Assault & Battery – On April 1 at 9:51AM, officers responded to an apartment located in the 3109 block of Chesapeake Dr in Dumfries (22026) to investigate a domestic assault. The victim, a 31 year old woman of Triangle, reported to police that she and the accused, an acquaintance, were involved in a verbal altercation which escalated. During the encounter, the accused grabbed the victim’s arm then placed his hand around her neck and choked her.

The victim was eventually able to get away from the accused and contact police. The accused left the area prior to police arriving. Minor injuries were reported. Following the investigation, officers obtained warrants for the arrest of the accused. The accused was located and arrested without incident later that evening.

Malicious Wounding – On April 1 at 11:56PM, officers responded to investigate an assault which occurred at a residence in the 2500 block of Sedgewick Pl in Dumfries (22026) on March 25. The victim, a 34 year old man of Dumfries, reported to police that he and the accused, an acquaintance, were involved in verbal altercation which escalated. During the encounter, the accused bit the victim’s finger causing a serious injury. The parties eventually separated and the victim contacted police on April 1 after receiving medical treatment. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested.

Attempted Unlawful Injury by a Caustic Substance – On April 1 at 5:19PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 5400 block of Kenwood Dr in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate a domestic assault. The victim, a 17 year old female juvenile of Woodbridge, reported to police that she and the accused, identified as a family member, were involved in a physical altercation. During the encounter, the accused grabbed a bottle of bleach and sprayed the victim in the face. The parties eventually separated and police were contacted. Minor injuries were reported. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested.
