Lake Ridge assault victim with serious head injuries airlifted to hospital; police seek suspect

Malicious Wounding – On Friday, Dec. 14 at 1:09PM, Prince William County police officers responded to the 4200 block of Merchant Plaza in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate an assault. Officers arrived and located an unconscious male being treated by rescue personnel. The victim was eventually flown to an area hospital with serious injuries.

According to the police report, the investigation revealed that the victim, a 26-year-old male, was involved in a verbal altercation with an unknown male and female while standing outside of a business in the plaza. During the encounter, the victim was punched in the head and was knocked unconscious. The victim fell to the ground and struck his head causing a deep laceration to his head. The suspects then fled the area in a dark colored SUV. The victim eventually regained consciousness and is expected to survive. At this point, this incident does not appear to be random. The investigation continues, the police report said.

Strangulation | Domestic Related – On Thursday, Dec. 13 at 9:56AM, officers responded to an apartment located in the 3200 block of Berlin Ct in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate a domestic. The victim, a 32-year-old woman, reported to police that she was involved in a verbal altercation with the accused, an acquaintance, which escalated, according to the police report released on Dec. 17.

During the encounter, the accused grabbed the victim by the neck and began to choke her. A struggle ensued and both parties fell to the ground. The parties eventually separated and the victim contacted police. The accused fled the apartment prior to officers arriving. Minor injuries were reported. Following the investigation, officers obtained warrants for the arrest of the accused, identified as Irvin Mandel WESTRY. Attempts to locate the accused have been unsuccessful, according to Off. Nathan Probus, police department spokesman.

Irvin Mandel WESTRY, 36, of the 300 block of Reynolds St in Alexandria
Described as black male, 5’07”, 175lbs, bald with brown eyes
Wanted for strangulation and domestic assault & battery
