Proud parents, siblings, other family members and friends watched as about 230 students in the 2011 graduating class at Kettle Run High School moved forward in succession on June 2 to collect what they worked four years to earn a diploma.
One phase of their lives ended as another began.
The ceremony was scheduled for nighttime at Kettle Run High School Cougar stadium with the gym as a backup in case of inclement weather.
This was only the second graduating class at the school at 7403 Academic Ave. in Nokesville. It opened just three years ago and there was no graduating class after the first academic year.
“Courage, Character, Citizenship” is the school’s motto where Major Warner is the principal. He had the satisfying task of handing a diploma to each of the proud graduates this year. The girls wore white and the boys green.
