Leadership Prince William has hired Kathy Bentz as the organization’s new executive director, according to Bennett C. Whitlock, chairman of LPW’s board of regents. Bentz is a graduate of the Leadership Prince William Class of 2010.
Whitlock was quoted in a news release as saying, “We believe Kathy is the right person to work with our Board, our alumni and class members, and our many volunteers to take Leadership Prince William to the next level. She brings the right mix of skills, experience and enthusiasm to the job.”
A former communications director for Prince William County government, Bentz has lived, worked, owned a business and volunteered in the Prince William Area for more than 20 years. Most recently, she led Bentz Communications, a consulting firm that worked with organizations such as the Prince William County Arts Council, Americans in Wartime Museum, and Greater Prince William Community Health Center.
In her new post, Bentz will lead an organization that nurtures, trains and supports leaders in Prince William County, Manassas and Manassas Park. Each year, LPW conducts a 10-month leadership development program for community members who want to expand or prepare for leadership roles in business, local government and community affairs. More than 150 people have graduated from the program and are contributing to the community, according to the news release.
Leadership Prince William is now recruiting for the class of 2014. Applications are being accepted through May 30, 2013. Information and applications are available at http://www.LeadershipPrinceWilliam.org.
