July 4th weekend burglaries, robberies, a rape investigated by PWC police

**INCIDENTS**

Armed Robbery – On July 4 at 12:21AM, officers responded to the 1300 block of Bayside Ave in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a robbery. The victim, a 34 year old man of Woodbridge, reported to police that he was walking in the above area when he was approached by five unknown men. During the encounter, one of the men brandished a handgun and demanded money. At some point, the suspect struck the victim on the head with the handgun knocking him to the ground.  The men continued to assault the victim then took his cell phone and wallet before fleeing the area in an unknown vehicle. Minor injuries were reported. The investigation continues.
Suspect Descriptions:
Five black males last seen wearing black masks and all dark clothing– No further descriptions provided

Armed Robbery – On July 3 at 5:48PM, officers responded to the area of Shallow Creek Lp and Democracy Ln in Manassas (20109) to investigate a robbery. The victim, a 29 year old man of Manassas, reported to police that he was walking in the above area when he was approached by a blue vehicle. During the encounter, an unknown man got out of the vehicle then brandished a handgun and demanded money. The suspect rummaged through the victim’s pockets and took an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing the area in the blue vehicle. No injuries were reported. The investigation continues.
Suspect Description:
Black male, between 30 & 35 years of age, 6’00”-6’02”, with a thin build and cornrows
Last seen wearing a white shirt – No further description available

Malicious Wounding – On July 4 at 2:08AM, officers responded to a residence located in the 15300 block of Waters Edge Ct in Dumfries (22025) to investigate an assault. The victim, a 28 year old man of Dumfries, reported to police that he and the accused, an acquaintance, were involved in a verbal altercation on July 3 around 9:50PM which escalated. During the encounter, the accused brandished a handgun and a struggle ensued. At some point, the accused struck the victim on the head with the handgun causing a severe laceration. The parties eventually separated and the victim responded to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries. When the victim was released from the hospital, he returned to his residence and contacted police. Following the investigation, officers obtained warrants for the arrest of the accused, identified as Jonathon William HIGGINS.

Strong Armed Robbery – On July 4 at 5:31PM, officers responded to the 16800 block of Toms River Lp in Dumfries (22026) to investigate a robbery. The victim, a 17 year old male juvenile of Dumfries, reported to police that he met an acquaintance, identified as the accused, in the above area to sell a PlayStation 4. During the encounter, the accused grabbed the PlayStation 4 from the victim then fled the area in a green sedan. No injuries were reported. Following the investigation, officers obtained a warrant for the arrest of the accused.

Residential Burglaries – On June 3 at 6:35PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 8300 block of Rolling Rd in Manassas (20110) to investigate two separate burglaries. The homeowner reported to police that the first burglary occurred on July 2 between 1:30PM and 8:30PM. Entry was made into the residence through a rear door which was found open. There were no signs of forced entry. A television, IPod, laptop computer, and money were missing. The homeowner did not contact police at the time. The second burglary occurred on July 3 between 2:00PM and 6:30PM. Entry was made into the residence through a rear window which was found damaged. A new television was reported missing. 

Residential Burglary – On July 1 at 10:30AM, officers responded to an apartment located in the 10500 block of Lariat Ln in Manassas (20109) to investigate a burglary. A resident reported to police that the burglary occurred between 10:30PM on June 23 and 10:20AM on July 1. The investigation revealed that entry was made through an unlocked front door. A television and IPad were reported missing.

Attempted Commercial Burglary – On July 2 at 11:10AM, officers responded to the Super Chicken located at 10380 Festival Ln in Manassas (20109) to investigate a burglary. The business manager reported to police that the burglary occurred between 12:00AM and 9:00AM. The investigation revealed that entry was attempted into the business through a front door which was found damaged. Money was reported missing. No entry is believed to have been and no property was reported missing.

**ARRESTS**

Rape – On July 4 at 5:15AM, detectives from the Special Victims Unit responded to investigate a sexual assault which was reported to have occurred at a residence in 2900 block of Myrtlewood Dr in Dumfries (22026) earlier that morning. The victim, a 35 year old woman of Woodbridge, reported to police that she was visiting a known acquaintance at the above location. During the encounter, the accused took her to a closet where he sexually assaulted her.  The victim later responded to a local hospital where police were contacted.  Following the investigation, detectives arrested the accused without incident.

Charged with rape

Strangulation | Malicious Wounding | Grand Larceny – On July 5 at 2:30AM, officers responded to the 14600 block of Aurora Dr in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate an assault. The victim, a 45 year old woman of Woodbridge, reported to police that she was asleep in a bed when the accused, an acquaintance, entered the room and began to strangle her. At some point, the victim lost consciousness. When the victim awoke, she contacted police. The accused left the area in the victim’s vehicle before officers arrived at the residence. The victim was transported to a local hospital with serious, non-life threatening injuries. Following the investigation, officers obtained warrants for the arrest of the accused. The accused was located and arrested without incident at his residence later that morning.

Charged with strangulation, malicious wounding, and grand larceny
