Infant found in Woodbridge pool dies at area hospital

Death Investigation | Drowning – On August 26th at 2:38PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 15400 block of Ohio Ave in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a drowning.

Family members reported to police that the victim, a 20 month old infant girl, was found unresponsive in the home’s pool. The infant was pulled from the water and CPR was initiated. The victim was transported to an area hospital where she died.

The investigation revealed that the child’s family lost track of the child and believed the child was inside the home. Upon checking the home and the outside area, the child was discovered in the pool.

Following a preliminary investigation, this incident appears to be an accident. The investigation continues.
