Homicide Unit detectives conclude May 23 death investigation was murder-suicide

Murder Investigation *UPDATE – On June 24, detectives with the Prince William County Police Department’s Homicide Unit concluded the death investigation concerning two adults who were found deceased in an apartment in the 3600 block of Jurgensen Dr in Triangle on May 23.

Upon reviewing the circumstances and all evidence collected at the scene, detectives, in concurrence with the Medical Examiner’s Office, have classified the death of Danesha Lana SIMPSON as a murder and the death of Elvin Francisco DRAPER as a suicide.

Detectives concluded that DRAPER fatally shot SIMPSON prior to fatally shooting himself. This is Prince William County’s 12th homicide of 2016.*

Death Investigation [Previously Released] – On May 23 at 6:45PM, officers responded to an apartment located in the 3600 block of Jurgensen Dr in Triangle (22172) to investigate the deaths of two adults. A family member reported to police that he was unable to contact one of the deceased. When officers arrived at the apartment, they forced entry into one of the rooms of the apartment and located two adults, identified as an 18 year old woman and a 29 year old man. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene. Detectives are currently working in conjunction with the Medical Examiner’s Office to determine their cause of death. There is no public threat or need for concern from the surrounding community as this incident does not appear to be random. More information will be released when available. The investigation continues.
