Homeowner observes camera in girls’ bathroom; resident charged with unlawful filming

Unlawful Filming – On August 21, 2021 at 7:18PM, Prince William County Police officers responded to a residence located in the 4300 block of Granby Rd. in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate an unlawful filming. The homeowner reported to police observing a camera in the bathroom primarily used by the female victims, a 7-year-old, a 10-year-old, and a 13-year old.

Detectives with the Special Victims Unit assumed the investigation and determined that the camera was placed in the bathroom by the accused, identified as an acquaintance who was residing in the home. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Josue Daniel BENAVIDES BERMUDEZ, was arrested.

While executing a search warrant on the home, the accused was also found in possession of suspected illegal narcotics and a firearm.

Charged with 3 counts of unlawful filming, 1 count of possession of a controlled substance, and possession of a firearm while in possession of a controlled substance
