Homeowner confronted by unknown figure; then shot fired by a suspect

**INCIDENTS**

Reckless Handling of a Firearm | Residential Burglary – On December 30th at 12:52AM, officers responded to a residence located in the 1600 block of Carter Ln in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate a burglary. The homeowner reported to police that he was asleep in the basement area of the home when he woke to the sound of footsteps on an upper floor. Upon checking the residence, the homeowner was confronted by an unknown figure, who immediately fled the home. As the unknown figure fled, the suspect fired a gun back at the homeowner; the bullet struck a wall. The suspect made entry into the home through an unsecured door. No injuries were reported and no property was reported missing. A police K-9 was used to search for the suspect. The homeowner was unable to describe the unknown figure to officers, according to Officer Jonathan Perok, police department spokesman.

Reckless Handling of a Firearm – On December 29th at 2:12PM, officers responded to the 2900 block of Buell Ct in Dumfries (22026) to investigate a shots fired call. The victim, a 20 year old man of Dumfries, reported to police that he was involved in an altercation with a known acquaintance over an ongoing dispute. The acquaintance came to the home with a group of other males to reportedly confront the victim. During the encounter, one of the suspects in the group fired multiple rounds towards the home before the group fled. No injuries or property damage were reported. Officers checked the area and did not locate the suspects. This incident was not random.

Residential Burglary – On December 29th at 10:10PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 18400 block of Cedar Dr in Triangle (22172) to investigate a burglary. The homeowner reported to police that the burglary occurred between 6:00PM and 8:15PM. The investigation revealed that there were no signs of forced entry into the home. A cell phone, Kindle Fire and an undisclosed amount of money were reported missing.

**ARRESTS**

Assault & Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer [LEO] – On December 29th at 6:30PM, a Prince William County police officer was on patrol in the 4300 block of Ensbrook Ln in Woodbridge (22193) when a suspicious vehicle was observed. As the officer approached the vehicle, the sole occupant, later identified as the accused, quickly exited the vehicle and began walking towards a nearby residence. The officer detected a strong odor of marijuana and went to detain the accused. The accused actively evaded the officer and entered the residence, subsequently closing the door on the officer. Additional officers made contact with the accused at the home. During the encounter, the accused closed the door on one of the officers a second time. At that point, officers entered the home and attempted to detain the accused which led to a struggle. Following a brief altercation, the accused was arrested without further incident. No injuries were reported.

Ramone David WALTERS, 25, of 4307 Ensbrook Ln in Woodbridge
Charged with 2 counts of assault & battery on a LEO, 1 count of driving under the influence of drugs, resisting arrest and obstruction of justice
Court date: February 10, 2015 | Bond: held WITHOUT bond
