Hazardous waste spill closes Prince William County landfill
The Prince William County Landfill is temporarily closed until further notice due to a spill at the Household Hazardous Waste Collection site.
Although trained staff and the collection contractor are on site, the police have shut down the entrance and the Haz Mat Team from Fire and Rescue has responded.
Deborah Campbell, public information officer said, “pool chemicals are reacting with something that has not been identified yet. The Haz Mat team is letting the reaction finish and is monitoring the situation.”
At this time, it not known if the facility will reopen today.
