Haymarket Thursday Afternoon Farmer’s Market has new name, new location

The Exit 40 Farmers Market will be held on Thursday afternoons beginning Thursday, Aug. 11, from 4 to 8 p.m. through the end of October at Novant Health UVA Health System Haymarket Medical Center, 15225 Heathcote Blvd., Haymarket, VA 20169.

The market was formerly known as the Haymarket Thursday Afternoon Market.

The market will feature more than a dozen local vendors selling produce, meats and eggs, local honey, preserves, artisan foods and prepared foods. It will also host special events, such as live music and cooking demonstrations, children’s activities, recipe contests and more.

Don Sedgley, president, Haymarket Medical Center, was quoted as saying in a press release, “We are proud to partner with the Exit 40 Farmers Market to give our community access to healthy produce and local goods, as well as support our local farmers.”

“We are looking to expand our education mission through our relationship with Novant Health UVA Health System,” Teresa Pilegaard, manager of the farmers market, was quoted as saying in the press release.

The traditional farmer’s market season will run from June through October.
