Haymarket, Lake Ridge residents among new faculty at NOVA-Manassas

The Manassas Campus of Northern Virginia Community College welcomed several new faculty members at the start of the fall 2016 semester including Prince William County professors from Haymarket and Lake Ridge.

Professor Amany R. S. Ahmed Saleh teaches chemistry. She taught at NOVA’s Loudoun Campus for six years before moving to the Manassas Campus. Previously, she was a researcher at the National Research Center in Cairo, Egypt. She holds a doctorate of chemistry from Ain Shams University in Cairo and a master’s degree in organic chemistry from Helwan University, Cairo. She lives in Ashburn, Virginia, with her husband, Noureldin Elemary, and their three children, Omnia, Mostafa and Noha.

Biology instructor Christopher Eninger has a long history with NOVA. He attended NOVA while in high school in the 1990s before going on to earn two master’s degrees at George Mason University in biology and chemistry. He has also taught as an adjunct at NOVA’s Alexandria and Loudoun campuses. Eninger lives in Lincolnia with his cats and frogs.

Arlington resident Barry Falk teaches mathematics. He holds a master’s degree in mathematics and statistics from Georgetown University and a bachelor’s degree in physics from the University of Utah. In addition to teaching experience gained at NOVA as an adjunct, he brings 10 years of tutoring experience.

Associate Professor Frank Ferrara teaches business administration and international business. He holds an MBA in management and finance from Hood College in Frederick, Maryland, as well as a bachelor’s degree in justice from American University. Before transferring to the Manassas Campus, Ferrara taught at NOVA’s Woodbridge Campus. He also brings more than 25 years of experience in the business field. Ferrara lives in Lake Ridge with his wife, Miljana. The couple have two adult daughters, Alyssa and Tori.

Chinthaka Hettitantri is an assistant professor of mathematics. He earned master’s degrees in math from Michigan State University and the University of Toledo as well as an MBA in finance from the University of Toledo. He has taught at NOVA in various positions since 2013 and was previously an instructor at the University of Toledo for five years. Hettitantri lives in Haymarket with his wife, Deepani, and their children, Piumi and Kavin.

Haymarket resident Suzanne Hutcheson is a math instructor with more than 20 years of teaching experience in high school, college and online. During the last four years, she has been a NOVA adjunct.

Ashlie Warnick joins the faculty as an associate professor of economics. She holds a doctorate in economics from George Mason University as well as a law degree from the University of Michigan. Previously, she taught economics at Carroll Community College (Maryland) for four years and law courses at George Mason University for two years. She lives in Haymarket with her husband, Robert Frommer, and their children, Josephine and Thatcher.

Xin Zhou is a professor of biology and biotechnology. He holds a doctorate in biology from Texas A&M University and previously taught as a NOVA adjunct for four years. His wife, Rong Zhu, works as an instructional designer for NOVA’s Extended Learning Institute, and the couple live in Springfield with their 15-year-old daughter, Crystal.

Northern Virginia Community College is the largest institution of higher education in Virginia and one of America’s largest community colleges.
