Gainesville women killed in fatal vehicle crash on June 1

Fatal Crash Investigation*VICTIM IDENTIFIED – Investigators from the Crash Investigation Unit have identified the driver of the 1999 Toyota Camry who was involved in a fatal vehicle crash which occurred in the area of Lee Hwy and Lake Manassas Dr on June 1. The investigation continues.
Identified:
The driver of the 1999 Toyota Camry was identified as Jana Lee BENNETT, 75, of Gainesville

The driver of the 2007 Sterling LT9500 truck was identified as a 47 year old man of Woodbridge

Fatal Crash Investigation [Previously Released] – On June 1 at 3:46PM, investigators from the Crash Investigation Unit responded to the area of Lee Hwy and Lake Manassas Dr to investigate a two vehicle crash. The investigation revealed that the driver of a 1999 Toyota Camry was attempting a left turn from westbound Lake Manassas Dr onto southbound Lee Hwy when the vehicle collided with the driver of a 2007 Sterling LT9500 truck who was traveling in the northbound lanes of Lee Hwy. When officers arrived, the Camry was found to be fully engulfed in flames.  The driver of the Camry was located inside the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators are awaiting positive identification of the driver. The driver of the LT9500 truck reported minor injuries. Speed, alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in this crash. The investigation continues.
