Radford (VA) University senior Bryce Corbett has been deemed the 2024 Big South Preseason Men’s Golfer of the Year by the league’s head coaches, the conference office announced Jan. 25..
The standout from Gainesville, Va. has earned postseason awards in each of his first three seasons as a Highlander, culminating in a Big South Golfer of the Year award and Individual Championship at the Big South Championships last spring.
After earning a pair of Golfer of the Week honors, and being named First Team All-Big South, Corbett became the first Radford golfer ever to compete at the NCAA Regionals, where he tied for 20th at 7-under par.
Picking up where he left off, Corbett earned a trio of top-10 finishes this fall, including a runner-up finish at Davidson’s River Run Collegiate at which the Highlanders won the team title. Through 15 rounds, he posted a 70.0 scoring average and ranks 355th nationally as of Jan. 24.
Heading into the spring season, Corbett owns the second, third and 10th -lowest single-season scoring averages in program history. His career 71.97 (as of June 2023) scoring average tops all golfers in program history as well.
The 2024 Big South Preseason Women’s Golfer of the Year award went to Anna Howerton of High Point. This marks the first time the Big South Conference has named Preseason Golfers of the Year following a vote by the league’s head coaches this past summer.
