On July 11th at 10:31PM, police responded to 12691 Braemar Village Plz in Bristow (20136) for a crash involving an overturned fuel truck.
The driver of the truck was not injured, no other vehicles were involved. Currently, there is HAZMAT clean-up underway. Fire crews are on scene and are continuing to evaluate the incident involving the fuel spill.
Residents and commuters can expect extended delays well into the morning rush hour as clean-up efforts continue.
Sudley Manor Dr will remain closed between Linton Hall Rd and Dunbarton Dr and the Braemar Village Center will also remain closed for unknown time frame. The shopping center has since been evacuated of all employees and patrons.
As of 2 a.m., only voluntary evacuations were in place for residents in the surrounding area. All residents are recommended to shelter in place. In the event fumes become too intense or you begin to feel ill or unsafe, contact the police deparment’s communications center at 703-792-6500. We will make accommodations to pick up residents and take them to the temporary shelter at Marsteller Middle School if necessary.
