Friday the 13th fire burns house, deck, attic

On April 13, 2012 at approximately 11 p.m., fire and rescue units responded to a report of a house fire at 19115 Wayne Drive in the Dumfries area of Prince William County VA. Upon arrival, fire and rescue units confronted a deck fire that extended into the house and spread into the attic. No injuries were reported and no one was home at the time of the fire. The fire damage is estimated to be approximately $80,000, according to Battalion Chief Curtis Brodie of the Prince William County Fire Marshal’s office.

Time to pay Prince William County property taxes; deadline is Dec. 5
Taxpayers are encouraged to pay their taxes before the Dec. 5 due date. A late payment penalty of 10 percent will apply to any unpaid tax balance after the Dec. 5 deadline. Additionally, interest will accrue monthly on unpaid balances at a rate of 10 percent per annum until they are fully paid.
