French, Arabic, Spanish, American Sign Language experiences for Fauquier elementary students

Fauquier County Public Schools is offering a variety of Foreign Language Experience (FLEX) programs to elementary school students, and registration is now underway.

All classes will begin the week of February 10 unless otherwise noted. Classes will last for 12 weeks. Additional dates may be added; check the website at http://www.fcps1.org/flex to keep up with the most current FLEX information.

The FLEX program is open to public, private and home-schooled students. No prior language knowledge or experience is required. Parents may enroll their child by using the online registration form found at http://www.fcps1.org/flex by re,questing a brochure at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) or by coming to FLEX registration night at the Fauquier High School library on Tuesday, Feb. 4 from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

These FLEX programs are scheduled at the elementary school indicated:

·  Bradley – French 1 on Thursdays from 3:45-4:45 p.m. for grades 3, 4 and 5

·  Brumfield – Arabic 1 on Wednesdays from 3:30-4:30 p.m. for grades 3, 4 and 5

· Coleman – Spanish 1 on Thursdays from 3:40-4:40 p.m. for grades K, 1 and 2 and Russian 1 on Thursdays from 3:40-4:40 p.m. for grades 3, 4 and 5

·  Greenville – Spanish on Wednesdays from 7:30-8:25 a.m. for grades 3, 4 and 5*  *The Greenville class is already in progress; please contact Mrs. Hatton at (540) 422-7570 as soon as possible if you are interested in your child joining this class.

· Miller – Spanish 1 and 2 on Thursdays from 3:45-4:45 p.m. for grades 4 and 5

· Pearson – French 1 on Tuesdays from 3:30-4:30 p.m. for grades K, 1 and 2 and French 1 and 2 on Thursdays from 3:30-4:30 p.m. for grades 3, 4 and 5

· Ritchie – American Sign Language on Wednesdays from 3:30-4:30 p.m. for grades 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5

· Smith – French 1 on Wednesdays from 7:30-8:25 a.m. for grades K, 1 and 2 and French 1 and 2 on Fridays from 7:30-8:25 a.m. for grades 3, 4 and 5

Cost of each program is $50 for the 12-week session, which covers tuition and all materials. Transportation is the responsibility of the parent or guardian; no transportation is provided.
