The Manassas Campus of Northern Virginia Community College will host a free writing conference April 10 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. including lunch.
The event is targeted to educators but open to everyone. Registration is required at http://www.novamawritingconference2015.eventbrite.com.
Paul M. Rogers, senior scholar at the Center for the Advancement of Well-Being at George Mason University, will discuss how writing is one of the most powerful tools available for thinking, expression, self-representation, reflection, communication and knowledge creation.
Donald R. Gallehr, associate professor of writing and rhetoric at George Mason, will lead a workshop that will explore various forms of assessment, grading and feedback on student work.
Other workshops will feature special presentations from NOVA faculty members on ways to incorporate writing into the classroom.
