Four teams from PWC headed to FIRST LEGO LEAGUE state tournament

The already strong FIRST Lego League teams in PWCS schools came out stronger in the first competitions of the year. Standouts were Vaughan, Cedar Point, Rockledge, Old Bridge, and Rosa Parks Elementary Schools which will all be sending teams to the state tournament—a total of six, with Rockledge fielding two teams.

Regional results are listed below. Vaughan Elementary School won the Champion’s award at the tournament held at Gar-Field High School on Nov. 19.

Osbourn Park High School hosted the FIRST LEGO LEAGUE (FLL) tournament on Nov. 5. The MetalJackets, Osbourn Park’s FIRST Robotics team 2068, hosted the event for local FLL teams. Osbourn Park received the Volunteer of the Year Award for all the years its students have mentored younger robotics students.

Here are the results of the Nov. 5 FLL Tournament:

Rosa Parks ES (RosaBots)- 2133 - Judges Award (Team Spirit) and State Qualifying team
West Gate ES (Bionic Bulldogs) - 12312 - Judges Award (Perseverance)
Cedar Point ES (Robotic Cheetahs) - 23731 - Judges Award (Energy) and State Qualifying team
Occoquan ES (TheO!)- 19848 - Judges Award (Rookie Team)
Ellis ES (Ellis-SOAR-us Robotics) - 27081 - Judges Award (Risk Takers)
Sudley ES (Racin Roborunners) - 4421 - 1st Place Robot Design


FLL teams participated in the FLL Regional Tournament on Nov. 19 at Gar-Field High School and Chantilly High School. The Gar-Field event was hosted by Gar-Field’s FIRST Tech Challenge team.

Potomac View ES - 12324 (Palomino) - Judges Award (Rookie)
