Independent of the Fauquier County School Board, a parent group known as the School Support Council (SSC) has been researching the potential benefits of later school start times for middle and high schools. The SSC is composed of a parent representative from each FCPS school.
After the SSC shared a presentation with the school board, the board requested that additional information be gathered through a stakeholder survey.
The school board is committed to considering the views of all stakeholders before rendering a decision. In addition to collecting opinions about school start times, this survey also includes demographic data that may be helpful in future school planning.
The current schedule for middle and high schools (except Marshall Middle) is 7:25 a.m. to 2:25 p.m. The current schedule for elementary schools is 8:35 a.m. to 3:20 p.m.
Anyone wishing to participate may access the survey on the school division’s website at http://www.fcps1.org (Cli.ck on “School Start Time Survey” under Announcements, or click on the clock logo in the scrolling photos.) The survey will be open through the end of February.
