Fauquier County Public Schools is currently conducting a School Quality Survey, canvassing employees, parents and students (grades 5, 8, 10 and 11) for their general opinions on the quality of public education in Fauquier County.
The on-line survey began Nov. 11 and will conclude Dec. 9.
“School improvement should not be based on hunches or suppositions,” said Dr. David Jeck, division superintendent, who spearheaded the survey. “Genuine school improvement should occur through the systematic collection of objective data from the key educational stakeholders.”
He said the goals of the survey are to collect trend data over time and to identify areas of strength and weakness, enabling decisions to be made on findings related to the data collected.
The survey is adapted from the School Quality Survey developed by the Hawaii Department of Education, Systems Accountability Office. Questions concern a wide range of topics such as expectations, homework, school cleanliness, bullying, communication, and many others.
Parents and employees may access the survey on the school division website at http://www.fcps1.org .
Students in grades 5, 8, 10 and 11 will take the survey during school hours.
