Fatality in Gainesville townhouse fire early on Sept. 19
On Thursday, September 19, at approximately 5 a.m., fire and rescue units were dispatched to a two-alarm townhouse fire located in the 8400 block of Tackhouse Loop in Gainesville, according to a press release from Kim Hylander, communications specialist from the Prince William County Department of Fire & Rescue.
Firefighters began suppression operations while conducting a search for occupants.
Fire and rescue extinguished the fire and reported one confirmed fatality—an adult male occupant of the home.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s Office and the death is under investigation by Prince William County police, the press release stated.
